Creating a Tenancy: The New Step-by-Step Wizard

Adding a new tenancy in the dashboard is now a guided, three-step process. Instead of a single tall form that scrolled through all fields at once, you are walked through each section in order — making it faster to complete and easier to spot mistakes before you save.

How to open the wizard

Navigate to Dashboard → Tenancies.
Click the Add Tenancy button in the tenancies list toolbar.
A slide-over panel opens from the right side of the screen.

Step 1 — Property & Dates

Select the property this tenancy relates to and set the key dates:

Property — choose from your registered properties.
Start date — the date the tenancy begins.
End date — the date the fixed term ends (leave blank for a rolling/periodic tenancy).

Click Next to proceed.

Step 2 — Deposit Scheme & Amounts

Enter the financial details for the tenancy:

Deposit protection scheme — select the scheme where the deposit is held (e.g. TDS, DPS, mydeposits).
Deposit amount — the total deposit collected.
Monthly rent — the agreed rent figure.

Click Next to proceed.

Step 3 — Tenant Linking

Attach one or more tenants to the tenancy using the searchable combobox:

Type part of a tenant's name or email address to filter results.
Click a result to add them as a pill tag in the field.
Remove a tenant by clicking the × on their pill.
You can link multiple tenants (e.g. joint tenancies).

Once you are satisfied with the tenant list, click Save Tenancy to create the record.

Tips

You can go Back at any step to revise earlier fields without losing your entries.
The wizard works on mobile and desktop — no internal scrolling or clipped content.
If a tenant does not appear in the search, ensure they have been added to the platform under Contacts → Tenants first.
