Smarter Deposit Verification: Automatic Record Sync

Smarter Deposit Verification: Automatic Record Sync

Available from: v0.1.234

Overview

When you verify a deposit against a protection scheme and the check comes back confirmed, the tenancy record now updates itself automatically. You no longer need to click a second button to push the verified status into the record.

How It Works

Before v0.1.234 — Two-Step Flow

  1. Click Verify in the Deposit Scheme panel.
  2. Review the green 'Deposit confirmed protected' card.
  3. Click 'Sync to tenancy record' to save the result.

Step 3 was a manual action required every time, even when the verification result was unambiguous.

From v0.1.234 — Automatic Sync

  1. Click Verify in the Deposit Scheme panel.
  2. The system confirms protection and immediately syncs the result in the background.
  3. The card displays 'Deposit confirmed protected — Record updated automatically'.

No second click required.

Fallback Behaviour

If the automatic sync fails for any reason (e.g. a transient network error), the manual 'Sync to tenancy record' button reappears. Clicking it retries the sync without needing to re-run the full scheme verification.

This means:

  • Happy path is fully automatic.
  • Error path retains complete manual control.
  • Verification never needs to be repeated just to recover a failed sync.

Who This Affects

  • Letting agents running deposit scheme checks during check-out.
  • Property managers reviewing deposit protection status on a tenancy record.

There are no changes to how verification results are interpreted or stored — only the trigger for the sync has changed from manual to automatic.
