Injury Risk Scoring & Monitoring
Injury Risk Scoring & Monitoring
The Injury Risk Scoring & Monitoring system gives coaches and gym owners a real-time view of each member's injury risk, computed automatically from training and health data. Coaches are alerted to dangerous volume spikes and receive actionable deload suggestions before injuries occur.
How Risk Scores Are Calculated
Each member receives a continuous risk score that maps to one of three indicators:
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🟢 Green | Load and recovery signals are within healthy ranges |
| 🟡 Amber | One or more signals indicate elevated but manageable risk |
| 🔴 Red | Multiple signals indicate high injury risk; immediate review recommended |
The score is derived from five data inputs:
1. Session Volume Trends
The system tracks total training volume (sets × reps × load) week-on-week for every member. Rapid increases are a primary driver of injury risk.
2. RPE Scores
Self-reported Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) submitted after each session is weighted into the model. Sustained high RPE relative to a member's baseline raises the risk score.
3. Soreness Logs
Members can log muscle soreness as part of their daily check-in. Persistent or worsening soreness in specific muscle groups contributes to an elevated indicator.
4. Training Age
A member's training age (how long they have been consistently training) adjusts the sensitivity of the model. Newer athletes are more susceptible to volume-related injury and will reach Amber/Red thresholds sooner.
5. Readiness Data
Daily readiness scores — sourced from wearable integrations or manual check-ins — are factored in to reflect how well-recovered a member is before their next session.
Volume Spike Alerts
The platform automatically generates a coach alert when any member's weekly training volume increases by more than 25% week-on-week.
- Alerts appear in the coach dashboard under the Injury Risk panel
- Each alert includes the member's name, the percentage increase, and the current risk indicator
- Alerts are triggered at the end of each training week during the scheduled risk recalculation
Deload Intervention Suggestions
When a volume spike or Red/Amber risk score is detected, the system surfaces deload intervention suggestions for the affected member.
Suggestions may include:
- Reducing weekly session volume by a recommended percentage
- Substituting high-intensity sessions with active recovery work
- Implementing a structured deload week within the member's programme
Coaches can review each suggestion in the member's profile and apply it directly to their upcoming programme schedule.
Accessing the Injury Risk Dashboard
- Navigate to Dashboard → Injury Risk in the coach or owner sidebar
- The member list is sorted by risk indicator (Red first, then Amber, then Green)
- Click any member row to view their full risk breakdown, contributing signals, and suggested interventions
- Volume spike alerts are also surfaced in the Notifications panel
Notes
- Risk scores are recalculated on a rolling weekly basis and update as new session, soreness, and readiness data is submitted
- Members do not see their own raw risk score by default; coaches control whether to share this information
- Deload suggestions are advisory — coaches retain full control over programme changes
