Live Competition Leaderboard & Heat Management

Live Competition Leaderboard & Heat Management

Version 1.0.12 introduces end-to-end tooling for running in-person Throwdown competitions — from building heats before the event to displaying live scores on a TV during the event.

Live Leaderboard

How It Works

During a Throwdown, judges score athletes in real time using the app. As scores are submitted the leaderboard updates instantly and is visible to anyone with the competition's public URL — no login required.

Judge Score Entry

  1. Open the Throwdown in the app and navigate to the Judging view.
  2. Select the athlete and the workout/event you are scoring.
  3. Enter the result (time, reps, load, or points depending on the scoring format).
  4. Submit — the leaderboard reflects the score immediately.

Judges must be assigned to the Throwdown by a coach or gym owner before the event starts.

Public Display URL

Each Throwdown automatically generates a public leaderboard URL. This URL:

  • Requires no authentication to view
  • Is designed for large-screen / TV display with a high-contrast, readable layout
  • Updates in real time without requiring a page reload
  • Can be shared with athletes, spectators, and on social media

To find the public URL, open the Throwdown detail page and copy the link from the Leaderboard section.

Heat Builder

Overview

Before competition day, coaches use the Heat Builder to divide registered athletes into heats and generate printable heat sheets.

Building Heats

  1. Open the Throwdown and navigate to Heat Management.
  2. Athletes registered for the event are listed and automatically seeded into heats by division.
  3. Use the drag-and-drop interface to move athletes between heats or reorder athletes within a heat.
  4. Add or remove heats as needed to accommodate your athlete count and equipment availability.

Seeding by Division

The system seeds athletes into heats based on their registered division (e.g. Rx, Scaled, Masters). This groups athletes with similar competitive categories together by default, reducing the need for manual reorganisation.

Exporting Heat Sheets

Once heats are finalised, export a PDF heat sheet for distribution:

  • Click Export PDF in the Heat Management view.
  • The PDF includes athlete names, divisions, and heat assignments in a print-ready format.
  • Distribute to athletes, judges, and volunteers before the event.

Notes

  • The public leaderboard URL becomes active as soon as the Throwdown is published.
  • Score submissions by judges are logged with a timestamp and the submitting judge's name for auditability.
  • Heat assignments do not affect leaderboard rankings — the leaderboard ranks athletes within their division regardless of which heat they competed in.
