Stripe Usage-Based Billing for Enterprise
Usage-Based Billing for Enterprise
Starting in v1.0.77, Sidekick's Enterprise tier supports usage-based billing powered by Stripe. High-volume accounts are no longer capped or forced into manual plan upgrades — usage scales smoothly, and you only pay for what you use beyond your base allocation.
How It Works
Every Enterprise plan comes with a base action allocation per billing month. An action is any autonomous operation Sidekick performs on your behalf — sending a message, triaging an email, creating a calendar event, executing a skill, and so on.
When your account exceeds its base allocation:
- Additional actions are metered automatically.
- Overage is billed at a flat rate per 1,000 actions.
- Charges appear as a line item on your next monthly Stripe invoice.
There are no manual thresholds to configure and no service interruptions — Sidekick keeps working and the cost is reported transparently.
Real-Time Cost Tracking
The Usage & Billing section of your dashboard gives you a live view of your consumption:
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Actions used | Total actions consumed so far this billing period |
| Base allocation remaining | How many actions are still within your included quota |
| Metered actions | Actions already accruing overage charges |
| Estimated overage cost | Projected cost based on current usage rate |
| Projected monthly total | Full bill estimate for the current cycle |
All figures update in real time so there are no end-of-month billing surprises.
Monthly Invoices
Overage charges are consolidated into your standard Stripe invoice at the end of each billing period. Invoices include:
- Base plan fee
- Itemised overage line (total metered actions ÷ 1,000 × per-1,000 rate)
- Full action-level breakdown for audit purposes
Invoices are delivered to the billing email on file and are always accessible from Settings → Billing → Invoice History.
Eligibility
Usage-based billing is available exclusively on the Enterprise tier. Starter and Pro plans are not affected by this change and continue to operate under their existing fixed-quota model.
FAQs
What counts as an action?
Any autonomous operation Sidekick performs on your behalf — reading and triaging messages, sending replies, calendar modifications, skill executions, API calls made on your behalf, etc.
Is there a hard cap on overage?
No hard cap is enforced by default. Enterprise accounts can contact support to configure a monthly spend limit if desired.
When does the meter reset?
The action counter resets at the start of each calendar billing cycle. Unused base allocation does not roll over.
Which payment methods are supported?
All payment methods supported by Stripe — credit/debit cards, ACH, and SEPA direct debit for eligible regions.
