Product Dossier Version History
Product Dossier Version History
Every product dossier is a living document — scores and analyses are refreshed as new review data is crawled or a manual re-analysis is triggered. Starting with v0.1.42, every previous state of a dossier is preserved as a versioned snapshot, giving you a full audit trail of how a product's opportunity profile has changed over time.
How It Works
- Automatic snapshotting — Immediately before a re-score or re-analysis is written, the existing dossier is saved as a read-only snapshot in
product_dossier_versions. - Nothing is overwritten — The live dossier always reflects the latest analysis, while all historical versions remain intact and queryable.
- Version history panel — Open any product dossier and navigate to the History section to see a chronological list of all previous versions.
What Is Captured in Each Snapshot
Each version snapshot includes the full dossier state at the time it was superseded:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Composite opportunity score | Overall ranking score used on the main dashboard |
| Replicability score | How feasible the product is to build with the internal stack |
| Market demand score | Derived from review volume and sentiment |
| Revenue potential score | Inferred from pricing tier and market size signals |
| Competitive gaps score | Weaknesses surfaced from negative reviews |
| Written analyses | Auto-drafted mission statement, feature list, and competitor weakness analysis |
| Snapshot timestamp | When this version was replaced by a newer analysis |
Viewing Version History
- Navigate to any product's dossier page.
- Click the History tab or scroll to the Version History panel.
- Each entry shows the snapshot date and the composite score at that point in time.
- Expand any entry to view the complete dossier snapshot, including all sub-scores and written content.
Use Cases
- Track market movement — Spot products whose opportunity scores are trending up or down across crawl cycles.
- Validate analysis quality — Review how the AI-generated written analyses have evolved as more review data became available.
- Audit re-scoring events — Understand exactly what changed between two analysis runs and why a product moved up or down the rankings.
Notes
- Version history is read-only. Snapshots cannot be edited or deleted.
- Only re-score and re-analysis events create new snapshots. Edits to metadata that do not trigger a fresh analysis run do not produce a version entry.
