Focus Block Templates
Focus Block Templates
Focus Block Templates let you define reusable named time blocks that can be applied when manually adding blocks to your day plan. If you find yourself creating the same block types repeatedly — a 90-minute deep work session, a 30-minute code review, a 45-minute admin slot — you can save those configurations as templates and apply them in one step.
Why Templates?
Building a day plan often involves the same handful of block types day after day. Without templates, you'd re-type the block name and duration each time. Templates eliminate that overhead so that populating your plan stays fast and consistent.
Creating a Template
When adding a focus block manually, you have the option to save the current name and duration as a new template. Give it a descriptive label that reflects what the block is for.
Example templates:
| Template Name | Duration |
|---|---|
| Deep Work | 90 min |
| Code Review | 30 min |
| Admin | 45 min |
| Planning | 60 min |
Applying a Template
When adding a new block to your day plan:
- Open the Add Block dialog.
- Select a saved template from the template picker.
- The block name and duration are pre-filled from the template.
- Adjust the start time or any other field as needed.
- Confirm to add the block to your plan.
Editing and Deleting Templates
Templates can be updated or removed from the template management section in settings. Changing a template does not affect blocks that have already been added to your plan — it only affects future use.
Notes
- Templates are personal — they are scoped to your account and are not shared across team members.
- Templates apply only when manually adding blocks. Automatically scheduled focus blocks use the Day Planner's priority-based logic and are not affected by templates.
- There is no limit on the number of templates you can create.
