What's New: Notification Bell Becomes a Slide-Over Panel

Release: v0.1.144

We've completely rebuilt the notification experience in the main header. The old dropdown was a practical limitation — 280 px wide, 320 px tall, capped at ten items, and offering no way to filter or act on individual notifications. Agents with busy portfolios regularly lost important alerts with no way to recover them without navigating away.

Starting with this release, clicking the bell icon opens a right-side slide-over panel that gives you the full picture.

What's in the new panel

Filter tabs by notification type

Four tabs sit at the top of the panel so you can focus on what matters right now:

  • All — every notification in chronological order
  • Info — general updates and FYIs
  • Success — completed actions and confirmations
  • Warning — items that need attention
  • Error — failures and blockers requiring action

Selecting a tab instantly filters the list — no page reload required.

Infinite scroll / load-more pagination

Notifications are no longer capped at ten. The panel loads an initial batch and fetches more as you scroll (or via a Load more button), so older notifications are always reachable without leaving the page.

Per-notification read and dismiss actions

Every notification in the list now exposes its own actions:

  • Mark as read — clears the unread indicator on that single item without affecting others
  • Dismiss — removes the notification from your list entirely

The existing Mark all as read action is still available at the panel header level.

Live-updating relative timestamps

Timestamps update in real time — "just now" becomes "2 min ago", then "1 hour ago" — so you always have accurate context without refreshing.

Date-grouped sections

Notifications are grouped into three sections:

  1. Today
  2. Yesterday
  3. Earlier

This makes it easy to scan for recent activity versus catching up on older items.

What hasn't changed

  • The bell icon in the header is the trigger, exactly as before.
  • The unread count badge continues to show how many unread notifications you have.
  • No settings need to be changed — the panel replaces the dropdown automatically.

Why it matters for agents

Agents managing active portfolios receive a continuous stream of notifications — deposit claims, inspection reminders, compliance alerts, and tenant messages. The old dropdown made it impossible to triage these at a glance. The new slide-over panel treats notifications as a first-class workflow surface rather than a transient overlay, ensuring nothing important gets lost.
