Never Miss a Rep — Introducing the Built-In WOD Timer

Release v1.0.94

Every coach knows the scene: the whiteboard says "20-minute AMRAP", someone's phone timer is going off in a corner, half the class is watching a wall clock, and at least one athlete swears they heard the buzzer before everyone else. Timing a WOD shouldn't be this hard.

With v1.0.94 we're shipping a native interval timer directly inside the platform — no third-party apps, no extra tabs, no fumbling with a separate clock while trying to coach a class.

Six Modes, One Timer

The WOD Timer supports the formats coaches actually programme:

  • AMRAP — set a duration, count down, go.
  • EMOM — the timer marks every minute so athletes know exactly when to start their next set.
  • For Time — counts up until the athlete stops it. The elapsed time goes straight to the session record.
  • Tabata — configurable work/rest intervals with the 20s/10s × 8 default ready to go.
  • Death By — minute-by-minute cues for progressive loading schemes.
  • Custom — chain together any sequence of intervals with individual labels, durations, and round counts. Useful for complex conditioning pieces or warm-up/work/cool-down structures.

The Screen Stays On

One of the most common frustrations with using a phone as a workout timer is the screen dimming mid-set. The timer now requests a wake lock while it's running, keeping the display active for the full duration of the session. When the timer stops, the lock is released — no battery drain after the workout is done.

Audio Cues Built In

Coaches shouldn't have to watch a screen to know when an interval ends. The timer fires audio cues at every transition — work-to-rest, rest-to-work, new round starts, and a completion sound when the workout is done. Put the phone face-down and just listen.

Duration Syncs to the Session Log

When you hit Start, the session is timestamped. When the timer stops — whether it runs to completion or is stopped manually — the elapsed duration is written back to the session record. Workout times now show up accurately in athlete history and coaching dashboards without anyone having to type a number in after the fact.

The WOD Timer is available now in all session views. See the WOD Timer & Interval Modes feature guide for full configuration details.
