What's New in v1.0.5: Throwdown Event Management — Registration & Heats
Version 1.0.5 ships the first full iteration of competition management for throwdown events. Here is a quick walkthrough of what has landed and how to start using it.
Overview
This release adds two major capabilities:
- Athlete Registration — a structured sign-up flow with division selection, team formation, digital waivers, and Stripe payment collection.
- Heat Builder — a drag-and-drop tool for assigning athletes to heats, with automatic seeding by division and PDF export.
Together, these features give gym owners and coaches everything they need to run a throwdown from first registration to the starting gun.
Getting Started: Running Your First Throwdown
Step 1 — Create the Event
Navigate to Events → New Throwdown and configure the event details including name, date, divisions, team settings, entry fees per division, and the event waiver text.
Step 2 — Open Registrations
Publish the event to make the registration link available to athletes. Athletes visiting the registration page will:
- Select their division (and create or join a team if it is a team event).
- Read and digitally sign the event waiver.
- Pay the registration fee via Stripe checkout.
Confirmed registrations appear in the Registrations tab of the event dashboard in real time.
Step 3 — Build Heats
Open the Heat Builder from the event dashboard. Athletes are pre-seeded by division into suggested heats. Use the drag-and-drop interface to fine-tune assignments — move athletes between heats or lanes as needed.
Step 4 — Export & Share
Once heats are set, click Export PDF Heat Sheet to generate a printable schedule. Share it with your judges, floor staff, and athletes ahead of competition day.
Key Things to Know
- Waivers are required — Athletes cannot complete registration without accepting the waiver. Make sure your waiver text is finalised before opening registrations.
- Stripe must be connected — Ensure your Stripe account is connected under Settings → Payments before creating a paid event. Free events (zero entry fee) do not require Stripe.
- Seeding is a starting point — Automatic division seeding is a convenience tool. All heat assignments can be freely adjusted in the drag-and-drop builder at any time before you publish the heat sheet.
- PDF heat sheets reflect the saved state — Always save your heat assignments before exporting the PDF to ensure the export is up to date.
