Introducing Team Challenges & Community Competitions

Release: v1.0.7

One of the most consistent things we hear from gym owners is that community and accountability are what keep members coming back. Today's release adds a dedicated tool for exactly that — Team Challenges.

What's shipping

Starting with v1.0.7, gyms can run weekly community challenges built around three core competitive metrics:

  • Most Metres Rowed — who put in the most work on the erg?
  • Most Sessions Attended — who showed up the most?
  • Most PRs Logged — who made the most progress?

These aren't just individual leaderboards. Members compete as part of teams — either auto-balanced by the platform or self-selected by members themselves — so the challenge creates collective accountability, not just individual pressure.

A live leaderboard keeps standings updated in real time throughout the week, so there's always something to check and something to chase.

Why we built it this way

We kept the design deliberately simple: one metric, one week, one leaderboard. That clarity means members always know exactly what they need to do to move their team up the standings — log another session, hit a PR, get on the rower.

Auto-formed teams lower the barrier to participation. No-one gets left out, and the platform handles balancing so competition stays fair. Self-selected teams give established groups — training partners, morning class regulars, remote athletes — a way to formalise the friendly rivalry they already have.

Getting started

Gym owners and coaches can create their first challenge from Community → Challenges in the dashboard. Pick a type, pick a formation method, set a start date, and publish. That's it.

Full setup instructions are in the Team Challenges documentation.

What's next

This is the first iteration of challenges. We're already thinking about custom challenge types, longer challenge windows, and cross-gym competitions. If you have feedback on what you'd like to see, share it with us.
