Introducing the Revenue Potential Scorer
v0.1.75 — Internal Release
We've shipped a new scoring sub-module that answers one of the most important questions you can ask about a competitor product: how much money is actually on the table here?
The Problem
Knowing that a product has negative reviews or a replicable feature set is useful — but it doesn't tell you whether building a competitor is worth the effort. A product could be easy to replicate and have terrible reviews, but exist in a niche so small that the revenue ceiling is negligible. Conversely, a product with a dominant market position in a massive vertical might reveal a huge opportunity even if its reviews are mixed.
Until now, the opportunity score treated all products as if market size were equal. That changes with v0.1.75.
What We Built
The Revenue Potential Scorer is a new sub-module that combines three signals to produce a 1–10 score and a plain-English rationale estimating the ARR range available to a new entrant:
Pricing tier × Category market size × Review-implied adoption
- The pricing tier comes directly from the existing extractor — no new scraping required.
- Category market size is looked up from a table of PropTech verticals we maintain internally, giving each category a relative weight based on its scale within the industry.
- Review-implied adoption uses review volume and sentiment (already collected) as a proxy for how entrenched the product is and how large the paying customer base likely is.
The written rationale stitches these together into a concrete ARR range estimate — the kind of number you'd want before deciding whether to spin up a build.
What You'll See
On the main dashboard, the revenue potential score now contributes to the composite opportunity score that ranks all discovered products. You can also sort by revenue potential independently if you want to filter for the highest-ceiling opportunities first.
In the product dossier, the Revenue Potential section shows the numeric score alongside the full rationale — ready to copy directly into a build brief or strategy doc.
Why This Matters
This release completes a critical dimension of the opportunity scoring framework. Combined with replicability, market demand, and competitive gap analysis, the revenue potential score means the dossier now gives you a full picture — from "can we build this?" through to "is it worth building?" — without leaving the app.
Available to all internal users as of v0.1.75.
