New Course Creation Wizard

New Course Creation Wizard

Starting with v1.0.69, creating a new course walks you through a guided, multi-step wizard instead of dropping you into a blank editor. The wizard collects the minimum information needed to get your course set up and ready for content.

How It Works

The wizard is launched any time you click Create Course. It consists of three steps:

Step 1 — Course Details

Enter the core information that identifies your course:

  • Title (required) — The public name of your course.
  • Description (required) — A short summary of what the course covers.

Step 2 — Thumbnail

Upload a cover image for your course.

  • Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP.
  • The thumbnail is displayed on course listings and the course landing page.
  • You can skip this step and upload a thumbnail later from the course settings.

Step 3 — First Section (optional)

Optionally create the first section of your course before finishing setup.

  • Give the section a name to establish the top-level structure of your curriculum.
  • Skip this step if you prefer to build out your curriculum after the course is created.

Completing the Wizard

Once you finish (or skip) all steps, the platform creates your course and opens it in the Course Builder. From there you can:

  • Add, reorder, and rename sections.
  • Create lessons and attach content.
  • Configure pricing, access rules, and publishing settings.

Why a Wizard?

The previous flow placed instructors directly into a fully open editor with no structure, which could be overwhelming — especially for first-time course creators. The wizard surfaces only the fields that matter at creation time, so you can start building content without having to figure out where to begin.
