Fix: "No authentication providers configured" Login Error — v1.0.313

Fix: "No authentication providers configured" Login Error

Release v1.0.313 · Bug Fix

What Happened

Some users encountered a blocking error after logging out of the platform and attempting to sign back in. The error message displayed was:

"No authentication providers configured. Contact your administrator."

This was confusing and alarming — especially because the affected users did have a valid linked account. The error gave the impression of a misconfiguration on the platform side, when in fact the issue was a bug in how the login screen resolved authentication providers for returning users.

What We Fixed

We identified that the login flow was failing to correctly detect existing linked authentication providers after a user session was terminated (i.e. after logging out). This caused the login screen to behave as though no providers were configured at all, even when a valid account linkage was present.

The fix ensures that:

  • Configured authentication providers are correctly loaded and displayed on the login screen after a logout.
  • Users with linked accounts (such as HMRC OAuth connections) are no longer blocked from re-authenticating.
  • The error message "No authentication providers configured" will no longer appear for users who have a valid linked account.

Action Required

No action is required from users. The fix is deployed automatically. Simply navigate to the login page and sign in as normal — your linked account will be recognised correctly.
