Better Filter Feedback in the Transaction Ledger
Better Filter Feedback in the Transaction Ledger
Version: 1.0.117
Overview
The transaction ledger's Filters button now shows a numeric badge indicating how many filters are currently active, replacing the previous orange exclamation-mark (!) indicator.
What's New
When you apply one or more filters in the transaction ledger toolbar, the Filters button now displays a count badge — for example, Filters (3) — so you can immediately see how many filters are in play without opening the filter panel.
The badge uses a neutral, primary colour rather than the previous warning-style orange, reflecting that active filters are a deliberate user choice rather than something requiring attention.
How It Works
- Open the Transactions section of your dashboard.
- Apply one or more filters using the Filters toolbar button (e.g. filter by date range, property, or transaction type).
- The Filters button label updates to show the number of active filters — e.g. Filters (2).
- Clearing filters reduces the count; when no filters are active, the badge is hidden entirely.
Before and After
| State | Before (≤ v1.0.116) | After (v1.0.117+) |
|---|---|---|
| No filters active | No badge | No badge |
| 1 filter active | Orange ! dot | Neutral badge: 1 |
| 3 filters active | Orange ! dot | Neutral badge: 3 |
Why This Change Was Made
The ! symbol is conventionally associated with warnings, errors, or alerts. Showing it when a user has deliberately set filters created a misleading visual signal — suggesting something was wrong rather than simply informing the user that filters were applied.
A numeric count badge is the standard pattern in SaaS applications and gives users richer, immediately actionable information: not just are filters active, but how many.
