Less Friction, Faster Starts — Introducing the Course Creation Wizard
Release v1.0.69
Creating a new course should feel like the beginning of something, not a chore. With this release, we've replaced the blank-slate course editor with a focused, multi-step wizard that guides instructors through the essentials — title, description, thumbnail, and an optional first section — before handing them the keys to the full Course Builder.
The Problem with a Blank Slate
An empty editor is powerful, but it can also be paralyzing. Instructors — particularly those creating their first course — were often unsure where to start when confronted with an open canvas and no clear starting point. This led to incomplete courses, dropped sessions, and unnecessary back-and-forth.
What's Changed
The new wizard breaks course creation into three short steps:
- Name and describe your course. Give it a title and a brief description so learners (and you) know what it's about.
- Upload a thumbnail. Add a cover image to make your course recognisable in listings from day one. Don't have one yet? Skip it — you can always add it later.
- Create your first section (optional). If you already know how your curriculum will be structured, lay down the first section before you dive in. Otherwise, skip ahead and build it out in the Course Builder.
That's it. Three steps, and you're in.
What Stays the Same
Everything about the Course Builder itself is unchanged. Once the wizard completes, you land in exactly the same editor you've always had — full control over sections, lessons, media, access rules, and publishing. The wizard simply removes the friction of getting there.
Available Now
The Course Creation Wizard is live in v1.0.69 and available to all instructors automatically. No configuration required — just click Create Course to try it.
