Learner Attachment Download Tracking

Learner Attachment Download Tracking

Available from: v1.0.77

Overview

When a learner downloads an attachment from a lesson page, the platform now records a timestamped event in the analytics log. Administrators gain visibility into which lesson resources learners are actually accessing, without any additional setup.

How It Works

  1. A learner navigates to a lesson that has one or more file attachments (e.g. PDFs, slides, worksheets).
  2. The learner clicks to download the attachment.
  3. The platform records a download event containing:
    • The identity of the learner
    • The specific attachment that was downloaded
    • The lesson the attachment belongs to
    • A UTC timestamp of when the download occurred
  4. The event is stored in the analytics log alongside other learner activity events.

Administrator Visibility

Administrators can use the analytics log to answer questions such as:

  • Which attachments are downloaded most frequently?
  • Are learners in a particular cohort accessing supplementary resources?
  • Has a specific learner downloaded a required document?

Notes

  • Download tracking applies to all file attachments on lesson pages.
  • Events are appended to the existing analytics log — no separate dashboard or storage is required.
  • Historical downloads made before v1.0.77 are not back-filled; tracking begins from the moment this version is deployed.
