Injury Logging & Movement Restriction Engine

Injury Logging & Movement Restriction Engine

Available from v1.0.104, the Injury Logging & Movement Restriction Engine gives coaches a structured way to record member injuries and automatically enforce safe programming until the athlete is cleared to return to full training.

Overview

When a coach logs an injury against a member record, the system immediately activates movement restrictions in programme delivery. Restricted movements are suppressed or flagged across all training tracks the member is enrolled in. Restrictions stay in place until the coach explicitly issues a return-to-training clearance against that injury record.

This closes the loop between injury management and programme delivery — coaches no longer need to manually audit sessions for contraindicated movements; the platform enforces safe programming automatically.

Logging an Injury

Injuries are logged against individual member records. Each injury entry captures the following fields:

FieldDescription
Body regionThe anatomical area affected (e.g. shoulder, knee, lumbar spine, wrist)
SeverityThe graded severity of the injury
MechanismHow the injury occurred (e.g. acute trauma, overuse, unknown onset)
Treatment notesFree-text notes covering clinical observations, referrals, or management details

All fields are recorded against the member's profile and retained as part of their health history.

Movement Restriction Enforcement

Once an injury is active on a member's record, the Movement Restriction Engine intercepts programme delivery to:

  • Suppress or flag restricted movements in the member's assigned sessions
  • Apply restrictions across all enrolled training tracks — not just the track where the injury was reported
  • Persist restrictions until a formal return-to-training clearance is issued

Coaches and members will see clear indicators when a movement has been restricted due to an active injury.

Return-to-Training Clearance

To lift movement restrictions, a coach must issue a return-to-training clearance against the specific injury record. This is a deliberate, explicit action to ensure restrictions are never accidentally removed.

Steps to issue clearance:

  1. Navigate to the member's profile.
  2. Open the Injury Log section.
  3. Select the relevant injury record.
  4. Review the injury details and treatment notes.
  5. Tap or click Issue Return-to-Training Clearance.

Once clearance is issued, movement restrictions associated with that injury are lifted and normal programme delivery resumes.

Note: If a member has multiple active injury records, each injury must be individually cleared before all restrictions are fully lifted.

Permissions

Only coaches and gym owners can:

  • Log injuries against member records
  • Add or edit treatment notes
  • Issue return-to-training clearance

Members can view their own injury records and restriction status but cannot modify them.
