Introducing Physiotherapist Injury Assessment & Rehab Protocol Tools
Introducing Physiotherapist Injury Assessment & Rehab Protocol Tools
Release: v1.0.18
Managing an injured member across a gym, a coach, and a physio has historically meant disconnected notes, missed restrictions, and rehab programmes that never get done because they live in a PDF someone emailed once. v1.0.18 closes that gap by bringing the physiotherapist into the platform as a first-class role — with the tools, access controls, and integrations they need to work alongside coaches and members in a single connected system.
What's Been Built
Physio Access to the Injury Risk Dashboard
The injury risk dashboard already exists for gym owners and coaches to monitor members flagged as elevated risk based on training load, movement history, and health data. Physios can now access that same dashboard for any member who has granted them consent.
This means a physio arriving at a formal assessment isn't working blind. They can review the platform's risk signals — accumulated fatigue, training volume spikes, flagged movement patterns — before conducting their own clinical evaluation, and refer back to those signals when writing up notes.
Access is always consent-gated. A member must explicitly grant the physio access before any health or risk data is visible.
Formal Injury Assessment Logging
Physios can now log structured assessments directly against a member's profile. Each assessment record is:
- Timestamped — creating a clear chronological history of the member's injury and recovery.
- Versioned — so changes over time (e.g. a follow-up assessment showing improvement) are tracked, not overwritten.
- Stored alongside the member's health history — giving coaches and future physios full context without needing to chase paper records.
Assessment notes follow the physio wherever the member goes in the platform, rather than being isolated in an external system.
Movement Restrictions
After completing an assessment, a physio can set specific movement restrictions on the member's profile. These restrictions are visible to the member's assigned coach immediately, enabling the coach to:
- Programme appropriate substitutions for restricted movements.
- Apply the correct scaling tier to sessions containing contraindicated exercises.
- Avoid inadvertently prescribing movements that could aggravate an existing injury.
Movement restrictions are part of the member's active profile until the physio updates or removes them, ensuring they aren't overlooked as weeks pass.
Rehab Protocols in the Habit Tracker
One of the most common failure modes in rehab is non-adherence — the exercises are prescribed but never done because they're disconnected from the athlete's daily routine. v1.0.18 solves this directly.
Physios can author rehab protocols and attach them to a member's profile. Those protocols then appear inside the member's habit tracker, alongside their daily WOD. Rehab work sits in the same place the member already looks every day to see what they need to do — it doesn't require a separate app, a separate login, or remembering to check a separate sheet.
This integration makes it straightforward for members to:
- See their rehab tasks as part of their daily checklist.
- Track completion the same way they track other habits.
- Keep coaches informed of rehab adherence without extra reporting effort.
Consent-Gated Coach Visibility
Physio notes and assessment findings are shared with the member's assigned coach — but only with the member's explicit consent. This design reflects two realities:
- Coaches need to know. A coach programming sessions for an injured member without access to the physio's clinical notes is working with incomplete information. This risks both the member's safety and the quality of their programming.
- Members control their data. Clinical information is sensitive. Members decide who sees it.
When consent is granted, the coach gains read access to the physio's notes and movement restrictions. The physio retains authorship and can update or revoke their notes at any time.
Role Summary
| Role | New Capabilities |
|---|---|
| Physiotherapist | Access injury risk dashboard (with consent), log formal assessments, set movement restrictions, author and attach rehab protocols |
| Coach | View physio notes and active movement restrictions (member consent required), programme accordingly |
| Member | Rehab protocols appear in the habit tracker alongside the daily WOD; manage consent for physio and coach data sharing |
| Gym Owner | Cross-role coordination between physios and coaches improves member injury outcomes and reduces churn risk |
Consent Model
All physio access and note-sharing is governed by explicit member consent:
- Physio → member data: Physio cannot view injury risk data or health history until the member grants access.
- Physio notes → coach: Notes are not shared with the coach by default. The member must enable this sharing.
- Consent can be granted or revoked by the member at any time from their profile settings.
No clinical data moves between roles without the member's knowledge and approval.
Getting Started
For Gym Owners
- Assign the Physiotherapist role to the relevant staff member or external contractor from the Members & Staff section.
- Ensure members are aware they can grant physio access via their Privacy & Consent settings.
For Physiotherapists
- Once assigned the Physio role, you will see a Members list showing only members who have granted you consent.
- Open a member profile to access their injury risk dashboard, log an assessment, or set movement restrictions.
- Use the Rehab Protocols tab to author a protocol and attach it to the member — it will appear in their habit tracker automatically.
For Coaches
- If a member has granted consent for their physio notes to be shared with you, a Physio Notes section will appear on the member's profile.
- Active movement restrictions are surfaced directly in the session programming view so you can apply substitutions before publishing a session.
For Members
- Go to Settings → Privacy & Consent to manage which physios and coaches can access your health and assessment data.
- Rehab protocols assigned by your physio will appear in your Habit Tracker alongside your daily WOD — no separate login required.
