Daily Readiness Score
Daily Readiness Score
The Daily Readiness Score is a 0–100 composite metric computed each morning from a member's overnight health data and subjective check-in responses. It is the primary signal used by the AI programming engine to adjust that day's session intensity for each individual member.
How the Score is Computed
Five data sources are aggregated into a single readiness value:
| Signal | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| HRV (Heart Rate Variability) | Objective | Connected wearable (overnight) |
| Sleep Duration | Objective | Connected wearable (overnight) |
| Sleep Quality | Objective | Connected wearable (overnight) |
| Subjective Soreness | Self-reported | Morning check-in |
| Nutrition Compliance | Behavioural | Previous day's nutrition tracking |
All five signals are normalised and combined to produce a score between 0 (very low readiness) and 100 (peak readiness).
Score Ranges
| Score Range | Readiness Level | AI Intensity Adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| 0–39 | Low | Session intensity significantly reduced |
| 40–64 | Moderate | Session intensity slightly reduced |
| 65–84 | Good | Session intensity at baseline |
| 85–100 | Peak | Session intensity at or above baseline |
How It Influences Programming
Once the Daily Readiness Score is calculated, it is passed to the AI-adjusted session intensity layer within the programming engine. The engine uses the score to:
- Scale load and volume — working weights, rep counts, and total training volume are adjusted proportionally to the member's score.
- Modify session structure — on low-readiness days, higher-intensity modalities (e.g. heavy strength work, high-power conditioning) may be substituted or shortened.
- Preserve progressive overload intent — adjustments are contextual; the engine avoids compounding fatigue while still advancing the member's long-term programme goals.
Coaches and gym owners can view each member's current readiness score from the member health & recovery dashboard.
Data Inputs in Detail
HRV (Heart Rate Variability)
HRV is measured overnight via a connected wearable. It is treated as a primary physiological indicator of autonomic nervous system recovery. A higher HRV relative to the member's baseline contributes positively to the score.
Sleep Duration
Total sleep time recorded by the wearable. Duration is evaluated against the member's rolling average and general sufficiency thresholds.
Sleep Quality
A wearable-derived quality index based on sleep stage distribution (e.g. deep sleep and REM proportions). Quality and duration are weighted independently to capture cases where a member sleeps long but poorly, or briefly but efficiently.
Subjective Soreness
Members report their perceived muscle soreness during the morning check-in flow. This self-reported signal provides context that objective wearable data alone cannot capture (e.g. delayed onset soreness from a prior session).
Nutrition Compliance
Adherence to the member's nutrition targets from the previous day is factored in. Consistent fuelling supports recovery; significant under-fuelling is reflected as a negative contribution to the readiness score.
Member Experience
- Complete the morning check-in — Members open the app each morning and submit their soreness rating alongside any other check-in prompts.
- Score is computed automatically — The platform aggregates the overnight wearable data with the check-in response to generate the day's readiness score.
- Session is adjusted — The AI programming engine updates the day's session before the member views it, reflecting the appropriate intensity for their readiness level.
- Transparency — Members can view their readiness score and the contributing signals so they understand why a session has been scaled.
Coach & Owner Visibility
- The member health & recovery dashboard displays each member's daily readiness score.
- Coaches can see at a glance which members are in a low-readiness state and may need additional support or communication before their session.
- Owners can use readiness trends in conjunction with churn risk and injury risk dashboards to identify members who may be chronically under-recovering.
Requirements
- A supported wearable device must be connected to the member's account to provide HRV, sleep duration, and sleep quality data.
- Members must complete the morning check-in for the subjective soreness signal to be included in the score. If the check-in is skipped, the score is computed from the remaining four signals.
- Nutrition tracking must be active on the member's account for compliance data to contribute to the score.
