Cleaner Settings: Tab Navigation Comes to the Settings Page

Cleaner Settings: Tab Navigation Comes to the Settings Page

Version: 1.0.23
Category: UI/UX · Layout

Overview

As the Settings page grew to include more sections — Profile, National Insurance Number, Organisation, Theme, Billing, and Danger Zone — navigating it became increasingly cumbersome. All six sections were stacked vertically as visually identical cards, with no clear way to jump between them.

In v1.0.23, the Settings page has been redesigned with tab navigation across the top. Each section now lives in its own tab, and only the selected tab's content is shown at any one time.

What's New

Tab Navigation Bar

At the top of the Settings page you will now see six tabs:

  • Profile — Personal account details
  • HMRC & Tax — National Insurance Number and HMRC connection
  • Organisation — Organisation-level settings
  • Appearance — Theme and display options
  • Billing — Subscription management
  • Danger Zone — Destructive account actions

Click any tab to navigate directly to that group of settings. No scrolling required.

HMRC & Tax Tab: Critical MTD Settings in One Place

The HMRC & Tax tab is particularly important for Making Tax Digital compliance. It groups together:

  1. National Insurance Number (NINO) form — Your NINO is a mandatory field for all MTD submissions to HMRC. It must be saved in your account before you can submit quarterly updates.
  2. Link to the HMRC connection page — Quickly navigate to connect or re-authenticate your HMRC account from the same tab.

Previously, the NINO input was a single card buried midway down a long page. With tab navigation, it is immediately accessible and clearly signposted as part of your tax configuration.
