Sequence Sending Schedule Configuration

Sequence Sending Schedule Configuration

NurtureHub gives org owners full control over when nurture emails are sent. You can define organisation-wide defaults and allow agents to override them on a per-sequence basis at approval time.

Organisation-Level Schedule Settings

Org owners can configure the send schedule from Settings → Sequence Schedule.

Inter-Email Delays

These settings control the minimum number of days that must pass between each email in a three-email nurture sequence.

FieldDefaultNotes
Delay between email 1 and email 23 daysMust be ≥ 1 day
Delay between email 2 and email 37 daysMust be ≥ 1 day

Delays are calculated from the moment the previous email was sent (not scheduled).

Sending Window

Emails will only be dispatched within a defined daily time window.

FieldDefaultNotes
Allowed sending hours9:00am – 5:00pmApplies to weekdays unless overridden
Sending daysWeekdays (Mon–Fri)Weekend sends are excluded by default
TimezoneEurope/LondonAll window calculations use this timezone

Tip: Europe/London automatically accounts for GMT/BST transitions, so summer and winter sending hours stay consistent from the recipient's perspective.

Bank Holidays

When Skip bank holidays is enabled (the default), the delivery engine will not dispatch emails on UK public bank holidays. Sends due on a bank holiday are automatically deferred to the next valid sending slot.

Per-Sequence Overrides

At the point of approving a sequence, agents can override any of the org-level schedule settings for that individual sequence. Overrides do not affect the organisation defaults or any other sequence.

Typical use cases for overrides:

  • Sending a time-sensitive sequence outside normal hours
  • Shortening delays for a hot lead who needs faster follow-up
  • Using a different timezone for an overseas investor contact

How the Delivery Engine Applies the Schedule

When an email in a sequence is due to be sent, the Inngest delivery function:

  1. Calculates the earliest eligible send time based on the configured inter-email delay.
  2. Checks whether that time falls within the allowed sending window (hours + days of week).
  3. If Skip bank holidays is on, checks whether the date is a UK bank holiday.
  4. If any constraint is not met, the send is deferred to the next available slot that satisfies all constraints.
  5. The email is dispatched and the next email's schedule is calculated from the actual send time.

This ensures recipients always receive emails at appropriate times, regardless of when a sequence was triggered or approved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if a sequence is approved outside sending hours? The first email is queued and will be sent at the start of the next valid sending window.

Can I allow weekend sends? Yes — org owners can enable Saturday and/or Sunday in the sending days configuration.

Does the bank holiday list update automatically? Yes. NurtureHub uses the official UK Government bank holiday feed, so the list stays current without manual updates.

What timezone should I use for contacts outside the UK? Use a per-sequence override at approval time to set the appropriate IANA timezone (e.g. Europe/Dublin, America/New_York) for that sequence.
