What's New: Subscription Pause, Upgrade & Cancellation Flows

Release v1.0.55 · Subscription Lifecycle Management

Members can now take full control of their subscription without contacting gym staff or navigating outside the app. This release ships a complete self-service subscription lifecycle — including upgrades, downgrades, pauses, and cancellations — alongside automated retry and suspension logic for failed payments.

Self-Service Subscription Management

Upgrade to Premium

Members on a base plan can upgrade to premium at any time from their account settings. Premium unlocks AI-powered features including:

  • Personalised daily programming adapted to readiness and goals
  • AI recovery and health monitoring insights
  • Access to AI coaching tools and adaptive scaling recommendations

The upgrade takes effect immediately upon successful payment.

Downgrade Plan

Members can switch to a lower-tier plan from the same subscription settings screen. Downgrades are scheduled to take effect at the end of the current billing period, so members retain premium access through the cycle they have already paid for.

Pause Subscription

Members who need a temporary break can pause their subscription rather than cancelling.

RuleDetail
Maximum pause duration4 weeks per calendar year
Access during pauseSuspended
ResumeAutomatic when the pause window ends

Pausing prevents billing for the paused period and keeps the member's profile, progress history, and programming data intact for when they return.

Cancel Subscription

Members can cancel through the in-app subscription settings. Key behaviour:

  • Cancellation is scheduled for the end of the current billing cycle — no immediate cut-off.
  • The member retains full access until the cycle ends.
  • Progress data and account history are preserved post-cancellation (subject to gym data-retention settings).

Automated Failed-Payment Handling

When a payment fails, the platform initiates an automated recovery flow so revenue is recovered without manual intervention.

  1. Automated Retry Sequence — The platform retries the failed charge on a scheduled sequence following the initial failure.
  2. Member Notification — Members are notified of the failure and prompted to update their payment method.
  3. Access Suspension at Day 14 — If the payment remains unresolved after 14 days, member access is automatically suspended until the outstanding charge is settled.
  4. Automatic Reinstatement — Once a successful payment is recorded, access is reinstated without requiring gym staff to manually re-enable the account.

Gym Owner & Staff Impact

  • Subscription state changes (pause, cancellation, suspension) are reflected in the owner's member management dashboard in real time.
  • Churn risk indicators are updated when a member initiates a downgrade, pause, or cancellation, allowing coaches to proactively engage at-risk members.
  • No manual intervention is required for payment recovery or access reinstatement.
