Introducing the Financial Data Model and Chart of Accounts
Introducing the Financial Data Model and Chart of Accounts
Release: v1.0.5
Version 1.0.5 lays the groundwork for all financial planning and reporting in the platform. This release introduces the core financial data model — the set of structured primitives that every subsequent financial feature will be built upon.
What Was Built
Chart of Accounts
The platform now supports a full chart of accounts per tenant. This is the master list of financial accounts used to categorize every transaction and budget line within an organization. Each account belongs to a standard classification (e.g. asset, liability, equity, revenue, expense) and can be structured hierarchically to match your organization's reporting needs.
Transactions
The transaction model provides a reliable, auditable record of all financial activity. Transactions are linked to accounts from the chart of accounts and carry the metadata needed to support filtering, reporting, and reconciliation workflows — including amount, date, description, and category.
Budget Categories
Budget categories connect accounts and transactions to the planning layer. They allow finance teams to group spending and income into meaningful planning segments, forming the basis for budget creation, variance analysis, and forecasting features coming in future releases.
Why It Matters
This release is foundational. By establishing a clean, consistent financial data model early, the platform is positioned to support a full suite of financial capabilities — including financial reporting, budget planning, spend management, and predictive insights — without requiring structural changes later.
What Comes Next
The data model introduced in v1.0.5 will be the backbone for upcoming features, including:
- Budget planning and variance tracking
- Financial dashboards and reporting views
- Spend management and approval workflows
- AI-assisted forecasting and anomaly detection
No action is required from tenants for this release. Configuration of accounts and categories will be available through the platform UI in a forthcoming release.
