Pending Actions Approval Queue

Pending Actions Approval Queue

When your agent is configured in ask-first mode, every action it wants to take is placed in the Pending Actions approval queue before execution. This gives you full oversight — nothing happens without your explicit sign-off.

Overview

By default, Sidekick agents can act autonomously on your behalf (sending messages, updating calendar events, triaging emails, etc.). Ask-first mode pauses that autonomy and routes every intended action through the approval queue instead.

This is useful when:

  • You want to review agent behaviour before trusting it to act fully autonomously.
  • You are managing sensitive accounts or workflows where every action matters.
  • You are fine-tuning agent instructions and want to inspect decisions step by step.

Enabling Ask-First Mode

  1. Navigate to Agent Settings from your dashboard.
  2. Under Autonomy, select Ask First.
  3. Save your settings. The agent will immediately begin queuing actions instead of executing them.

You can switch back to fully autonomous mode at any time from the same settings panel.

Using the Approval Queue

When the agent has staged actions for review, a notification badge appears on the Pending Actions panel in your dashboard.

Reviewing an Action

Each queued item shows:

FieldDescription
ActionWhat the agent intends to do (e.g. "Reply to email from Alex")
ReasonWhy the agent decided this action is appropriate
TargetThe integration or resource the action will affect

Approving, Rejecting, or Modifying

  • Approve — Executes the action exactly as the agent planned. One tap.
  • Reject — Discards the action. The agent will not attempt it again for the same trigger unless conditions change.
  • Modify — Opens an edit view where you can adjust the action's parameters (e.g. change the wording of a reply, shift a calendar event time) before approving.

Bulk Actions

If multiple actions are queued, you can review them individually or use Approve All / Reject All at the top of the queue to process the entire batch at once.

Notifications

When new actions enter the queue, Sidekick can notify you via your configured notification channels so you never leave the agent waiting longer than necessary.

Notes

  • Actions that are not acted upon do not expire automatically — they remain in the queue until you review them.
  • Modifying an action before approval does not affect the agent's underlying instructions or future decisions; it only alters that specific instance.
  • Ask-first mode applies per-agent, so you can have some agents fully autonomous and others in review mode simultaneously.
