Mobile Application Core
Mobile Application Core
Available since: v1.0.60
The platform's native mobile application brings time tracking, expense reporting, and approval workflows to iOS and Android devices. The app is designed to work reliably in environments with intermittent or no connectivity, automatically syncing data when a connection becomes available.
Features
Time Tracking
Employees can track work hours directly from their mobile device:
- Start and stop timers in real time.
- Manually log hours for past periods.
- Review and submit timesheets for approval.
- View timesheet status (draft, submitted, approved, rejected).
Expense Reporting
Capture and submit expenses without a desktop:
- Photograph receipts directly within the app.
- Categorize expenses and attach them to projects or cost centers.
- Submit expense reports for manager approval.
- Track the status of submitted reports.
Approvals
Managers and approvers can action pending requests on the go:
- Receive push notifications for new approval requests.
- Review timesheet and expense submissions with full detail.
- Approve or reject requests with optional comments.
- View approval history.
Offline Capability
All core mobile features are fully available without an internet connection.
| Action | Offline Support |
|---|---|
| Log / edit time entries | ✅ |
| Create / edit expense reports | ✅ |
| Capture receipt photos | ✅ |
| Submit timesheets & expenses | ✅ (queued) |
| Approve / reject requests | ✅ (queued) |
| View synced historical data | ✅ |
How Sync Works
- Any action taken while offline is stored securely in local device storage.
- When the device regains internet connectivity, the app automatically detects the connection.
- Queued actions are synced to the platform in the background — no manual intervention is required.
- Conflicts (e.g. a record modified on both desktop and mobile while offline) are resolved server-side, with the most recent timestamp taking precedence.
Note: Users will see a visual indicator in the app when they are operating in offline mode and when a sync is in progress or has completed.
Getting Started
- Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (search for your organization's branded app or the platform app name provided by your administrator).
- Sign in with your existing platform credentials — single sign-on (SSO) is supported.
- Your data, including team structures, projects, and cost centers, will sync automatically after first login.
- Enable push notifications when prompted to receive real-time approval alerts.
Permissions
The app requests the following device permissions:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Capture receipt photos for expense reports |
| Push Notifications | Approval request alerts |
| Local Storage | Offline data queuing and sync |
Limitations (v1.0.60)
- This is the initial release of the mobile application core. Advanced features (e.g., in-app reporting dashboards, payroll visibility, contract management) are planned for future releases.
- Offline sync requires that the device reconnects within 30 days; local data older than 30 days without a sync may be cleared.
